I was so pleased with the products of our Semester 2 Chemistry Final Project – Explain It To A 3rd Grader! Directions to my junior chemistry class were as follows:

- You may work with one partner as a co-author / co-illustrator.

- Your target audience is young. Make it a picture storybook. Pictures may be original or found. If you find images and picture, make sure that they go well together from page to page.

- You will need 10-pages minimum with a logical beginning, middle and end to the story – introducing and explaining the content with a memorable conclusion.

- You will need to use technical terms. These should be printed in bold-faced type and defined the first time they are used.

- Drawings should be simple, with limited labels and captions.

- Limit the amount of text on a page. Use a large 18 to 24 point font.

I have a rubric available.

Below are a few examples used from Storyjumper.com and Flipsnack.com.

The students found these amazing designs from Kacie D. Also found here!
