A big change. . .

The school year ended and almost immediately I started teaching Introduction to General Chemistry as an adjunct instructor at Hawkeye Community College. It was a quick transition, but it has been the perfect schedule for me and the boys! I teach 4 mornings a week and then we go have summer adventures in the afternoon and on Friday. =)

A few weeks ago, I found out that my chemistry teacher from high school had retired. Mr. Wilson inspired my love of chemistry as well as my goal to teach it. He has been the inspiration for what kind of teacher I want to be. His position had been filled, but I heard that City High School in Iowa City was looking for another chemistry teacher. After talking it over with my husband and family, we decided to take a chance for change. I applied, had an interview and was offered the position.

It was a very difficult and emotional decision - I care so much about the staff and students at Hudson. However, it is the right one for us. I accepted and will start at CHS this fall. It's crazy to think about, but I will be teaching in the same classroom I sat as a student nearly 20 years ago!

I am excited for the change, but I am also sorry to leave you. I have loved my time at Hudson and I will treasure all of my memories and interactions with each of you. It is a big change, but I am not too far away, so I hope we can make it back for an event or two this year - Homecoming, musical, graduation. I do not want to think of this a "Good-bye," but instead "Until next time!"
